The test coach, a three-axle, 13 metre Travego M, boasts unrivalled safety features. Fitted with the latest safety equipment, it lives up to the name "Safety Coach". It also becomes part of an illustrious tradition: from the revolutionary first-generation Travego in 1999 to the "Travego innovations study" five years later and the first Safety Coach in 2006, the Mercedes-Benz Travego has always been at the forefront of touring coach safety.
The superb Travego chassis provides the basis for outstanding active safety.
Like all Travego variants, the test coach benefits from modified front-axle mountings and smoother suspension, which do not compromise track guidance, damping characteristics or steering feedback from the road. The reliable chassis of the three-axle coach also features a new trailing axle with independent wheel suspension. This ensures improved track guidance and smoother suspension characteristics thanks to lower unsprung masses. The latest standard-specification suspension features on the Travego now also include electronic level control.
The actively steered trailing axle provides the Travego M with unrivalled manoeuvrability: the turning circle is just 21.32 m – a key safety benefit when tackling mountain passes, embarking on city tours or negotiating tight car parks.
